Entry # 4

What is the mood of this novel? Do you find this novel saddens you in any way? Why?

The mood of this novel changes from being bright to being sad. After I finished this novel I felt sorry for the animals that were betrayed by their own comrades. It made me sad when Boxer died. Boxer was the hardest worker on the farm. After Boxer got hurt he was sent to the horse slaughter and that wasn’t fair or right. In Animal Farm every animal was promised to be released but no animals were released. When the Pigs walked on two legs, I felt sad that the animals just wasted their time and wasted their bodies for cruel dictators.

What is the climax of this novel? What happens? How do the events or this novel make you feel?

I think the climax of this novel was when the Pigs walked on their hind legs. It had the most tension in the story, because it was when the Pigs became like really human beings. It was very disturbing to me. When the Pigs walked on their hind legs I thought about Kim Jung Ill and other smart dictators and how they control their people without care for them.

Who are the main characters in the novel? Do you like them? Why or why not? What is special about them? What do they reveal about the universal human experience?

The main characters in this novel were Benjamin, Boxer, Old major, Napoleon, Squealer, Snowball, Mr. Jones, Clover, Mollie and the Dogs. I like all the characters except the Pigs. Most of the other animals were good workers and they always did what the Pigs ordered them to do. They were happy that they were free from Mr. Jones
However, they were promised to be released from working when they got old, but the Pigs didn’t keep their word. The worst example of this was when Boxer, the hardest worker on the farm, got hurt from working and the Pigs sent him to the horse slaughterer, yet lied by telling the other animals that he went to a hospital and that he was fine
I was amazed that the animals obeyed the pig so easily. They never realized that pigs were becoming like human beings, except Benjamin. They believed the Pigs without any suspect. But, the Pigs betrayed the animals. In my opinion, the animals were like people who do labors for higher rank people. The Pigs were the higher rank people.

What is the major theme of this novel?

The major theme of Animal Farm is greed. In Animal Farm, the Pigs' goal was to rout Mr. Jones in making a better farm; such as, no laboring, more free time, and equality between animals. But, as time went on the Pigs became greedier and greedier. At the end of the story, the Pigs became like Mr. Jones. They walked on their hind legs, drank wine, and talked with the people who they had battled with at the beginning of the story.

But not that looking;; :D
I want invisibleness and immortal power (never get old after 24 or 25). I don’t want to be changed in physically looking. However I want those qualities if I can have any qualities. I want those 2 because if I really become like god it will be very boring. No one can do something to me. If I only have those 2 qualities it will be very fun to live on the earth. I don’t want to die so early. It will be very fun if I have qualities of being invisible. If I can become invisible I will do many things. For example I will revenge on people who I hated, and I will do many fun things. I can’t tell what fun things are, because some fun things are very dangerous and some are not good. However those 2 things are the qualities that I want. If I can have one more quality I would have a quality of transporting (not transport but appearing in the place that i wanted immediately). It’s very tire to take KTX, buses, and trains to go somewhere. So those 2 or 3 things are the qualities I want.
